Languange Description Example HTML client side Hyper Text Markup Language: The webserver just sends the information to the webbrowser, and the webbrowser makes the page work. Generally used for static, unchanging content. <p>howdy world!</p> CSS client side Cascading Style Sheets: Basically an extension to HTML that can make it easier to spruce up static HTML and aide in dynamic content. <style> .red {color:red;} </style> <font class="red">Red Text</font> Javascript client side A scripting language that was developed to aide webpages in being more dynamic. <script type="text/javascript"> document.write("howdy world!"); </script> Perl server side A programming language that is run by the webserver and outputs HTML (in most cases) to a webbrowser. print "howdy world!"; PHP server side Pre Hypertext Processor: A programming language that is also run by the webserver that mixes inline with regular html. <?PHP echo "howdy world!"; ?> Java client side It is a programming language that needs to be compiled (basically an extra step) so it will run on the virtual machine. The person visiting the website needs to have java installed. System.out.println("howdy world!"); Basically, if you used 'save as' on this webpage.. you'd have the page, as is, because it's HTML. You'd be able to log off the internet and still use/see the page. If you went and used 'save as' on say Maze Mansion 2 or Mastermind.. you'd only get that page, and if you were offline you'd not be able to play either game. All you saved was some of the output from that program, and not the program/game itself. Stage Two Pick a Domain Name:

As for Domain Names, you want something somewhat descriptive but somewhat short and memorable. Many web-host sites (like freehostia) allow you to have a subdomain for free. subdomains look like: http://yourname.freehostia.com Many people prefer their own personalization without the extra stuff. This is where Top Level Domain (aka: TLD or just domain) names come in. TLD's look like http://ctg3d.tk or http://freehostia.com and usually cost around $10 USD a year. Freehostia lets you register 2 TLD's from their site with any account. Usually, you only need one domain name, but you have space with freehostia to host a couple sites on one free account.

HTML knowledge is not required. -Web images usually have to be altered in some way. The physical size in pixels, file size, minor alterations... I do all of this to make the image 'fit' in the page and download quickly, while still keeping the image looking good.

Flash! I can design in flash. However, I don't a flash program, thus I can't offer it.
